A Strong Network
The Competence Field of Metropolitan Research has established partnerships in the fields of research, teaching and knowledge transfer – its partners are based both in the Ruhr region and around the world.
Partner
The Emschergenossenschaft and the Competence Field of Metropolitan Research (KoMet) have been working closely together since 2017 to provide academic support for the transformation of the Emscher region. Under several Memoranda of Understanding, collaborations have been established in the areas of knowledge transfer, transformative research, support for early-career researchers and teaching-research projects. With the second MoU, the collaboration was extended until 2026, thereby enabling it to be further deepened.
Partner
NRW.BANK
Since the end of 2022, NRW.BANK has been providing financial support for the field of metropolitan research. The partnership focuses on supporting specialist event formats, in particular the KoMet Days. By organising these events jointly, the transfer of knowledge from metropolitan research into social practice is being specifically strengthened and further expanded.
Partner
RUHR REGIONAL ASSOCIATION (RVR)
In July 2024, the Ruhr Regional Association (Regionalverband Ruhr) and the Compentence Field of Metroplitan Research renewed their partnership within the ‘Ruhr Innovation Space’ through a memorandum of understanding. The aim is to intensify and consolidate their cooperation in the areas of knowledge transfer, transformative research and the support of students and early-career researchers in the long term.
Partner
The Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr is collaborating with KoMet to provide academic support for transformation processes in the transport sector of the Ruhr region. This collaboration brings together existing research activities under a shared focus on ‘mobility’ and encompasses not only research projects but also university teaching and the transfer of academic findings into practice.
