Title of the workshop with World Café: Transformation Talks 1.0 – Urban Transformation from the Perspective of the Next Generation
The Transformation Talks took place for the first time on June 2, 2023. The KoMet team chose HIER IST NICHT DA (Bochumner Straße 138, 45886 Gelsenkirchen)—a sociocultural center—as the venue.
The Transformation in Metropolitan areas and the control of this change, along with the UN sustainability goals is the joint task of the future of all social areas, at all spatial scale levels. The graduate network of competence in the field of urban research (comet) and the Forum of young NRW of the ARL against this Backdrop, a young practitioner:indoor, invited young researchers:on the inside, the students and dedicated persons of citizens:indoor initiatives in the Transformation of Talks. In the framework of the Workshops, exciting projects and ideas for the o. g. were Researchers put forward, which can contribute to a positive and sustainable development of the urban space ().
The aim of the event was to provide a platform for young designers shaping transformation in metropolitan areas across various sectors of society, as well as to offer an informal space for them to exchange ideas and approaches and to network.
About 60 participants discussed urban change at the Transformation Talks that day, moderated by Jürgen Hein (UA Ruhr). To break the ice, SEG first offered a walking tour of the “Bochumer Straße” neighborhoodSEG (Thanks to Patricia Gajda and Catrin Schenk).
Following that, a total of 15 speakers presented their projects and ideas in 4-minute pitch presentations:

Following this, discussions took place in a World Café format at four thematic tables (over two rounds) on key transformative topics such as participation, mobility, ecology, and urban production. The focus was on practical implementation strategies, not limited to the urban projects that had been presented.
