Comet prize Jury has decided! Congratulations! Leah Blank and Timo Haselhoff have the comet-funding prices on the territory of the metropolis of research in 2024 won

The award-winning master's thesis of Leah Blank bears the title "The role of cultural ecosystem services in the planning of urban Tiny Forests – A case study of the elting district in Essen". It takes an inter - and transdisciplinary urban development perspective. The special value of work is not just to Pick up on cultural ecosystem services in the district, but the Commodification of the associated manifold contexts for participatory ecological urban development. The work has been supervised by Dr. Klaus Krumme and Paul Hendricksen (both UDE).

The comet award for outstanding dissertations in the field of mertropole research has Timo Haselhoff with his thesis "The Acoustic Environment: A New Perspective in Urban Public Health. Solutions for Quantifying Multidimensional and High‐Resolution Audio Data in a Multifaceted Urban Areas” won. His analysis of the urban acoustic environment of an innovative and future-oriented research approach. Previous studies on the relationship between the acoustic quality and health have been limited to noise and other qualities of the noise excluded. Especially in the context of the discussed (After)compaction of the cities in a deeper understanding of the links between health and acoustics is necessary, however, to allow a health-enhancing design. The Dissertation was submitted to the Medical faculty of the University of Duisburg-Essen. The expert:interior Prof. Dr. Susanne Moebus (UDE), Prof. Dr. Christian Albert (University of Hannover) and Prof., Dr. Michael Scherer-Lorenzen (University of Freiburg) are.
