New concepts for climate-neutral regions in Europe - EU project coordinated by KoMet academic Matthias Kiese
How can European regions become climate neutral? This is the central question of the new project 'TRANSFORMER: Designing long-term systemic transformation frameworks for regions - Accellerating the shift to climate neutrality', which the EU is funding with around 2.3 million euros as part of the Horizon Europe program. The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is coordinating the project under the leadership of KoMet academic Prof. Dr. Matthias Kiese.
The Metropole Ruhr will become a super-laboratory for the transformation process in the fields of transport, circular economy, energy and industry. The specific focus is on hydrogen.
The project team includes Business Metropole Ruhr GmbH with its managing director Prof. Dr. Julia Frohne as well as other international institutions such as Dolnoslaski Fundusz Rozwoju, Warsaw University, the Foundation "Dumni z Lubina", the Regional Development Agency of West Madedonia (ANKO) and the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH).
